Berlin
Onion domes overlooking the Spree
Nestled beside the river among trees and scrubland, the Russian Orthodox church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother is almost invisible from the street. Except, that is, for its gleaming onion domes, which seem to shimmer whatever the weather.
Inaugurated in 2008, it's the newest of Berlin's various Russian churches, and serves as a reminder that Charlottenburg is home to one of Berlin's largest Russian-speaking communities.
Adding a touch of unexpected exoticism to its surroundings, look out for this unassuming yet lovely place of worship if you happen to be nearby.
