Berlin
Berlin's favourite snacks (and favourite places to buy them)
Come rain or shine, and at almost any hour, there are queues outside two of Berlin's most revered street food institutions.
A mere French fry's throw from Kreuzberg's Mehringdamm U-Bahn, Curry 36 serves up what's said to be the city's most delicious currywurst - a Berlin speciality consisting of a sausage drenched in spicy tomato sauce.
Another staple Berlin snack is the kebab, which was also apparently invented right here in the city itself.
According to locals, none approach the sheer deliciousness of the vegetable and chicken combo served up at Mustafa's Gemüse Kebap.
And since Mustafa's is located just yards from Curry 36, the inevitable crowds on this section of Mehringdamm can baffle unwary tourists.
Fast food this isn't, as you'll almost certainly have to wait in line, but for an authentic taste of Berlin (whether you decide to eat or not) you can't get much better.
